New Seed vs. Saved Seed
The Benefits Are Substantial
It’s Hubner’s policy that no seed with a Monsanto affiliate germplasm patent
or a Monsanto patented trait will be saved from one season for planting in
the next by a Hubner grower—because the benefits of new seed far outweigh any perceived savings that bin-run or saved seed can offer.
Those Benefits Include
- Higher quality seed—professionally handled and rigorously tested.
Weed-free and readily available in many maturities.
- Better value—as bin-run planting rates are generally 15 percent higher
than that of new certified seed, yield averages are 1.8 bushels per
acre less.
- A limited warranty—that includes dealer agronomic support and the risk
management benefits of Roundup Rewards®.
- New innovations—as royalties on new seed provides for ongoing R&D of
new traits and higher yielding germplasm, as well as funding for new trait
introductions.

Seed Piracy
Policy
It is the policy of Hubner Seed Co., Inc., that no seed with the
Monsanto patented traits or seeds, including conventional seeds
containing a Monsanto or Monsanto affiliate germplasm patent will
be saved to be planted in our growers’ fields. If a grower
chooses to violate this policy, then said grower releases Hubner
Seed Co., Inc., from all liabilities and understands said grower
is subject to seed piracy laws and takes sole responsibility for
all penalties and fines accrued for violating this policy.
We at Hubner Seed Co., Inc., not only believe
it is the legal responsibility of the grower to follow this policy,
but also believe it is in the best interest of the grower to plant
new seed every year. |
